Terms of Service
Last updated October 22, 2026
1. Who we are
localstories is run by UAB NEXTVELO, registered in Lithuania ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@localstories.lt.
These terms apply when you use localstories.lt (the "site") and buy or listen to our audio guides. By creating an account or buying, you agree to them. If you're using the site for a business, some consumer rights below may not apply to you.
2. What localstories is
localstories offers self-guided audio walks in Lithuanian cities, in Lithuanian, English and Polish. Each guide is a route with stops; stories play on your phone as you walk. Short samples are free to listen to without an account.
The narration in our guides is written by us and voiced using AI voice generation (ElevenLabs). Facts and stories are researched by us; legends are presented as legends.
3. Your account
- You need a free account to buy or play a full guide. You can sign up with email and password or with Google.
- Keep your password safe and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
- You must be at least 14 years old to create an account.
- One account is for one person. Don't share your login to give others access to guides or passes.
- You can delete your account at any time in Account settings or by emailing us. Guides you bought are tied to your account, so deleting it ends access to them. If your yearly pass renews, deleting your account turns off the renewal, so you won't be charged again. Records of what you paid are kept without your name, as accounting law requires.
4. Prices and paying
- Buying isn't open yet. For now you can listen to the free samples, create an account, save guides and leave your email ("Coming soon — get notified") to hear when guides go on sale. The rest of this section and sections 5–6 apply once buying opens.
- Prices are shown in euros and include VAT. The VAT for your country is calculated at checkout and shown on your receipt.
- Single guide: €2.99, €4.99 or €5.99 depending on length. Lithuania pass: €14.99 (3 days) or €19.99 (7 days). Yearly pass: €39.99 per year. Current prices are always those shown on the site at the time you buy.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Your purchase is confirmed when the payment succeeds. You get a confirmation email from us and a receipt from Stripe.
- If we make an obvious pricing mistake, we may cancel the order and refund you in full.
5. What you get
- A single guide is yours to keep: it stays in My guides for as long as your account exists and the guide is offered (see 9).
- A Lithuania pass gives access to every guide in every city from the moment you pay, for 72 hours (3 days) or 168 hours (7 days). It never renews and is never charged again.
- A yearly pass gives access to every guide for a year and renews each year until you turn renewal off (see 6).
- When a pass ends, guides you only had through the pass lock again. Guides you bought separately stay yours. Buying a pass doesn't refund or credit guides bought earlier.
6. Withdrawal and refunds
Audio guides and passes start right away. When you buy a guide or a pass, you can listen immediately. At checkout you ask us to start right away and confirm that you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal once access starts. So we don't refund purchases you've changed your mind about.
If something doesn't work, you're covered. If a guide or pass doesn't work as described (audio won't play, a stop is missing, the route can't be walked), tell us within a reasonable time at hello@localstories.lt. We'll fix it, and if we can't, we'll refund you in full or in part.
Lithuania pass (3 or 7 days). Starts when you pay and ends after 72 or 168 hours. It never renews and is never charged again.
Yearly pass. Renews once a year. We email you 7 days before each renewal with the date and price. You can turn off renewal anytime in My pass → Manage subscription; you keep access until the end of the paid year. If you're charged for a renewal you didn't want and haven't listened to a guide since, write to us within 14 days of the charge and we'll refund it.
Group copies. Claimed copies follow the rules above. Copies nobody has claimed can be refunded within 14 days of purchase; claimed ones can't.
Guides you own stay yours. Guides you bought or claimed stay in your account for good. Pass-only access ends when the pass ends. Buying a pass doesn't refund or credit guides bought earlier.
How to ask. Email hello@localstories.lt to withdraw or to ask for a refund: tell us what you bought and when. We reply within 3 working days and refund to the original payment method within 14 days of approving.
7. Walking safely
Our guides take you through real streets. You're responsible for your own safety while you walk and listen:
- Watch for traffic, cyclists and uneven ground; keep the volume low enough to hear what's around you.
- Follow local rules and signs. Some stops are outside places with opening hours or private property; don't enter where you're not allowed.
- Location on phones isn't always accurate, so a story may start a little early or late. Route maps and turn-by-turn directions are a guide, not a guarantee that a path is open or step-free; check our accessibility notes and use your judgement.
- Routes, buildings and opening hours change. Tell us if something on a route is wrong and we'll update it.
8. Using our content
- Guides, audio, texts, photos and maps on localstories are ours or licensed to us. Buying gives you a personal, non-transferable right to listen for your own, non-commercial use.
- Don't copy, download (other than any offline feature we provide), record, resell, share or publicly play our guides, or use them to run paid tours, without our written permission.
- Map data © Mapbox and © OpenStreetMap contributors.
9. Changes to guides and the service
- We improve guides over time (new stops, corrected facts, better audio). The guide you bought is updated, not frozen.
- If we have to withdraw a guide you bought (for example a route can no longer be walked), we'll tell you and offer a replacement guide or a refund.
- We may change or stop parts of the site. For paid features we'll give reasonable notice, and if a change significantly affects something you've paid for, you can ask for a refund for the part you can't use.
10. Reviews
- Once you can play a guide, you can rate and review it. Your review shows your first name and the first letter of your last name (for example "Laura K."), the date and your rating.
- Reviews must be honest and about the guide. We may remove reviews that are offensive, unlawful, off-topic, spam or about someone's personal data. We don't pay for reviews or remove reviews because they're negative.
- You keep the rights to your review and let us show it on localstories and in our marketing about the guide.
11. Our responsibility
- We provide the guides with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under Lithuanian and EU law, including your rights if digital content doesn't conform to the contract.
- We're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably foresee, for things outside our control (for example your phone, mobile data or GPS, closures or weather), or for accidents on a route that weren't caused by our negligence.
- Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that can't be limited by law.
12. Closing accounts
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms (for example sharing access or reselling guides). If we close your account without a good reason related to your conduct, we'll refund what you paid for access you lose.
13. Complaints and disputes
- Contact us first at hello@localstories.lt; we reply within 3 working days.
- If we can't resolve it, you can contact the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of Lithuania (Valstybinė vartotojų teisių apsaugos tarnyba, vvtat.lt).
- These terms are governed by Lithuanian law. If you're a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim there.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll tell you by email or on the site before important changes apply to you. The version that applied when you bought something applies to that purchase.
